Well, as promised, I have photos of the Baklava.
For some reason, it did not come out as flaky as normal, and I think it’s because Jay was in a bit of a rush to get it out of the oven.
We went to a homeschool drama / choral recital last night. (We weren’t involved, but some friends were. It was fun!)
We did have time to leave it in the oven though. . . .
Anywho. . .
The recipe for Baklava is here.
Here it is being pre-cut before entry into the oven:
Have to tell you, I always let Jay do this job. His pieces come out more equal than mine.
This little fact does not hold true for home-made bread where he’s more of a “chunker”, rather than slicer.
But for desserts, he’s superb at cutting equally.
HA! “Spelling Tidbit”:
I consider myself a good speller; however, dessert (YUM) and desert (sand box) always through me for a loop. It was Jay, who told me a good way to get it straight — and he’s a self-admitted poor speller. “You always want more dessert, so add an extra ’s’.” The kids only had to hear that rule once and they’ve got it down.
Distracted myself again, didn’t I?
Well, it’s not so appealing before it goes in the oven, but afterwards:
Personally, I think this should have stayed in a touch longer and be more of a golden color (and the phylo would have seperated and flaked a bit more); but Jay says it came out fantastic. To each his own.
I”ll sneak you a piece,
but sadly, this rest of this batch is reserved for Jay’s office party.
Have a fantastic day!

Another spelling tidbit – It should be “throw me for a loop”, not “through me for a loop”.
ACK!
You are right. . . and wrong.
“threw” (past tense) would be the proper word to use.
(Not “through” as “through a tunnel”.)
I’m giving absolutely no spelling hints as I couldn’t spel mi way out of a broun paper bag.
I will however enjoy the baklava (again with the spellin)
Oh, I am so going to try this! And now I FINALLY know how to cut those diamond shapes. I can’t spell to save my life. Thanks for the tip. It’s great when you can find a way to make dessert educational! LOL!
