Surprise Party — Part 1 (for those who wish to catch up)
So, I think I had mentioned the rain? Yes, well, of course, it rained the entire time Jay was grilling and the entire time we were eating.
This presents a slight problem when you have such a crowd.
The bigger problem, however, was the humidity. It was just unbearably muggy inside. So, Jay and a couple of the guys put in a couple of A/C window units real quick (first time they’ve seen the “light of day” all summer).
I think everyone had a great time. I’m just going to post pictures with a few captions as I see fit.
this party was to celebrate Jay’s 40th birthday and his retirement, after 20 years, from the military. It was also a congratulations for getting into the nursing program and there was a 3rd dessert for that, but it wasn’t decorated. Lit’l Bit did the birthday cake and I did the retirement cake.
Some people chose to eat outside, and some in. . .
That’s a whole heck of a lot of candles!
He wasn’t able to blow them all out on the first time round. . .
Some people claimed they ate too much and couldn’t stay awake.
I was also told that my house is “very comfortable”. 😉
Here are some shots after the feeding frenzy.
and after the sluggishness of the food fest wore off:
And here is the shadow box to which I’ve been referring all week:
Details “erased” to protect the innocent.
In fact, Jay is so happy with this shadow box that he has informed me he has no desire for another one. WAHOO!
Now, if I could just get him to toss all of his Army “junk”, I’d be a happy camper!
Oh, and the A/C units were removed before we went to bed that night. 5 hours of use this summer. . .
This week is all about prepping for school. . .
